Maple Rag Muffins:

 Ingredients:

Maple Syrup Mix:

  • 1 cup Tucker Maple Syrup
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Mix above ingredients and pour into a 9”x13” baking dish.  Place in a preheated oven, 350 degrees, to heat the mixture to just below boiling (when it starts to bubble around the sides of the dish). Place biscuits on top of hot mixture and bake for about 20 minutes or until browned.

 Biscuit Mix:

  • 1 cup flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/8 cup shortening
  • 8 tablespoons milk

Mix dry ingredients; cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal.  Add cold milk all at once.  Stir well; pat out on floured board.  Cut with biscuit cutter or drop by large spoonful.

Note: You can also substitute using the biscuit recipe on the Bisquick instead of this traditional flour biscuits.
